Choosing the cirrect leupold rifle scope for your evironment is the best place to start when acquring a new scope. A reputation for ruggedness and dependability are hallmarks of the Luepold range. They also produce scopes to cater for a wide range of shooters and conditions to which htey will subject their scopes to operate.
Coming from that diversity is a penchant for some shooters to really mix up their equipment and skillset. You could only consider it a challenge to want to put a high mag scope with a huge distant focal point on a shotgun and try to use it effectively. No doubt if you did manage to get them in your scope it wouldonly be for a fleeting moment, particularly if your target was close.
Reticle preference is an inidividual thing and you should go with what suits. Leupold does cater for reticle customisation on most of their scopes. The rifleman line is an exception to that rule in the current manufacturing lineup.
The leupold mark 4 is an incredible popular choice of scope. These share many of the features of previous tactical scopes with the addition of a fast focus eyepiece.I'll write some more on these in another article, but for now watch out for the cheap copies and scams. You'll need to know how to spot them.
Low light, misty and twilight conditions were some of the environments targeted with the new gen Mark 3 lineup for 2009. They work exceptionally well in low or fading light scenarios. the VX-3L has an ingenious twist to allow it to have a larger apperture and is definitely worth checking out.
Bosch were recent supplier to Leupold for high quality optics. Leupold do however retain optical design in the US at their high tech labs. They also retain tight requirements on all external suppliers to ensure that scope integrity and quality are not compromised.
Cheap lenses and a whole bunch of extra adjustments for a quarter of the price. Heard this before? Poor quality optics that lend themselves to much greater shape distortion can only result in image degradation and poorer resolution. It all sounds really good when pitched to you but basically one scope will not do everything that all other scopes combined can do. Leupold dont try and push this line and you shouldnt buy it either.
The decision was made extremely easy for me on day when my boss was on my case way too hard. I just wanted to escape from his clutches to go hunting. I took the jump and ordered my Leupold. It took a few days to arrive but the wait was worth it. The most lingeirng impression of that first hunt was my buddy Pete continually drooling over my new scope. He probably used it more than I did that day. - 31499
