If you are a keen airsoft participant you probably know that the hobby does tend to revolve very much around the assault rifle and pistol. Many if not most airsoft hobbyists wish to use replicas of the AK47s, the M16s and the M4s for example, but thats for those who really want high volume fire power. What about the rest of us? Would you agree we would rather go for the "one shot kill"?
There is a real skill and beauty to that! Its all very well to smack your opponent with 100 bbs but for me the real fun is to go for that single sniper shot when they least expect it. This then adds a totally new dimension to the game.
The airsoft sniper rifle is in general based upon an actual sniper rifle when it comes to design. Take the Super 9 as an example. This is modeled upon a Belgian police rifle. In some of the Super 9 models now on the market they even have magazine feed cartridges which ejects the shell casing upon each shot - this is a real as it gets!
There is for some one drawback about this sort of gun when used in airsoft. It tends to be a bit bulky and a bit heavy, but then its not designed to be carried around like an AK47 taking pot shots at your opponents. It is designed to be used from a single position, usually or often under camouflage, where you can take a single shot at your enemy.
There are a few advantages. Most of these airsoft rifles are indeed spring powered and not electrically or gas powered. Thus, you have almost complete and utter silence when you fire your gun. Its adds up that with less noise you will over all have more success. Using a bolt-action airsoft rifle also adds to the authenticity of the whole scenario as you lay there in wait for your next victim.
This is after all one of the main points, if not the main point behind airsoft - to provide a sense of total realism without the danger element, of course.
Just to make your airsoft sniper rifle the ultimate killing machine, you should strongly consider a bipod to add stability. Further, a laser scope for top accuracy is a real bonus. And if you are going to be walking a fair bit with the rifle you should think about a good quality shoulder strap to add comfort. Take pride and enjoy your sniper gun experience! - 31499
