Hunting Deer With A Bow for Beginners

By Jeremy Dawson

When the gun hunting season comes to an end the bow hunting season begins. Hunting with a bow is difficult especially if you are hunting for deer. This article sets out a few tips for beginner bow hunters that will help you with understanding the intricacies of deer hunting with a compound bow.

Bow hunting is a bit more challenging than hunting with a rifle. There are several things that a bow hunter must know, things that are not that specific with hunting in general but with the intricacies of hunting with a bow. When using a rifle you don't really have to come near a deer but when hunting with a bow the hunter must find ways to get much closer to the prey in this case the deer.

Because most bow hunters hunt in the fall there is the challenge of finding good hiding places. That is why you need to work on being cautious and try to take in as much as you can with every hunting trip. Many hunters try to hunt on trees so that they avoid detection by the prey and at the same time maintain their field of view. Deer hunting is a fun sport but don't expect being successful on your fist trip.

Experienced bow hunters know to look for hiding places in areas with pine trees. Pine needles don't fall during the fall and can provide good hiding places all year round.

When you find a good hiding place you literally take the advantage away from the deer. If the deer cant see you chances are that it wont get scared even if it hears or smells the hunter. When bow hunting, even when a compound bow you will have a limited range. It is best that you find a deer trail that leads into a pine forested area for best results.

Bow hunting requires patience and a lot of it. Chances are that you will see prey if you are lucky or hunting with other experienced hunters and trackers. You only get one chance to fire your bow so you want to make the most out of it. Make sure you service your compound bow often. - 31499
