Knives, Knives, and More Knives

By Ben Vinson

Benchmade Mini-Griptillian: The Griptillian I am reviewing is the D2 steel model. It has a Molded rubbery gripped handle. I believe it is some sort of Polycarbonate handle with Rubber Inserts. It has REALLY good retention because of this, even in water. Also it fits the hand nicely. I have small hands so this might not be the case for people with bigger hands.. you may want to try the full size.

Kershaw Boa Speedsafe Knife: Ever since Ken Onion formed a relationship and collaborated with Kershaw on their knives they have been releasing some amazing peices. The Boa is among around a dozen knives designed byKen Onion for Kershaw, which include the Steven Segal folder.

Spyderco Delica C11 Knife: Sypderco's Amazing quality shines through again in these Japanese Made (seki-city) folders. From their Distribution center in Colorado, Spyderco sells some of the highest quality production folders available.

William Henry Mokume T-12 Spearpoint: This was my first decorated William Henry knife that wasn't just a typical base model. I had owned one of the T-10's prior to this, and also a T-12 in Mother of Pearl. This model has the Snakewood scales, Mokume bolsters and 154CM blade. Titanium liners are annodized blue.

Kirby Lambert Mammoth Spearpoint: Two years in the making! This knife was not easy for Kirby to make me as he had to go to where he had his quenching set up in a different province to do it. He tried several steels to get a good hamon on a small blade and finally got this result, and it looks fantastic! This is easily my favouriteknife in my collection, period.

Matt Cucchiara Damascus Small Sirocco: This is my first Cucchiara knife, and its a helluva knife! I really like his fizz treatment and heat coloring of the handles. The thick blade and big-bellied recurve make for a nice blade profile as well. The blade on this bad boy is even thicker than the handles! This knife was made prior to the later styles that Matt has been making with the hand-carved handles.

James McGowan Ti Strider Spanner Key: James is a stand-up guy, and every year when I go to the CKG show I have to pick up a peice by him. This year there were lots of things there as usual, but the cool funky gripped knives were all sold by the time I got there, so I was lucky enough to grab one of these titanium spanners, the last one. Actually it wasn't there earlier, and appeared late, so I'm not sure where it came from.

Peter Atwood Prybaby: Peter Atwood's Prybaby's are a very popular tool amongs the tacticool crowd of today's knife community. I will admit I think they are pretty darn cool too and the one I have here is a basic prybaby in 154CM steel with Orange Glow inserted all over various parts of the tool. - 31499
